Pre-cut insulation panels for fast, clean installation in any framing system.
Batt insulation consists of pre-cut panels of fiberglass, mineral wool, or cotton fiber designed to fit standard framing cavities. It's one of the most versatile and widely specified insulation types for both new construction and renovation work. ApexSeal NY installs batt insulation with precision — no gaps, no compression, no shortcuts — delivering the full rated R-value on every project across NY, NJ, and CT.
We measure cavity dimensions and identify non-standard framing, obstructions, and areas requiring custom cuts to ensure complete coverage.
We select the correct batt thickness, width, and facing type (kraft, foil, or unfaced) based on your R-value requirements and vapor control strategy.
Before batts go in, we seal all penetrations, gaps, and electrical boxes. Air sealing is the most important step for maximizing batt insulation performance.
Batts are cut cleanly around obstructions and fitted snugly — not compressed — into every cavity. Compression reduces R-value and is the most common installation mistake.
Where required by code or climate conditions, we install the appropriate vapor retarder on the correct side of the insulation assembly.
We verify all work meets local energy codes and provide documentation for your building inspector and project records.
Fiberglass batts are lighter and less expensive. Mineral wool (rock wool) batts are denser, provide better sound attenuation, are naturally fire-resistant up to 1,400°F, and perform better when slightly compressed. We recommend mineral wool for party walls, fire-rated assemblies, and premium residential projects.
Standard batts require open cavities. For existing walls, blown-in insulation is typically the better option. We can assess your situation and recommend the most cost-effective approach.
Critical. Batts slow conductive heat transfer but do not stop air movement. Without proper air sealing, even correctly installed batts will underperform. We always air seal before installing batts.
It depends on your climate zone and wall assembly. In the Northeast, vapor retarders are typically required on the warm-in-winter side of insulation in exterior walls. We follow code requirements and best practices for your specific project.
